General Cable Supports Halton Women’s Place Fundraiser
For the second year in a row, General Cable showed its support of ending violence against women as a key sponsor of the “Hope in High Heels” event. General Cable associates participated in the annual fundraiser to benefit the Halton Women’s Place in Ontario, Canada. This non-profit organization provides shelter and crisis services to women and their dependent children living in and fleeing from abusive situations.
Men paraded for a half-mile in pink high heels to raise funds and community awareness for this important cause. John Discenza, Area Vice President of Sales, and Peter Sciacca, Manager of Human Resources, both represented General Cable at the event.
“I know that my discomfort will end when I take off the shoes. Unfortunately, it is not that simple for the women and kids who have to seek refuge at the shelter,” Discenza stated.
This year’s event successfully raised $6,000 for Halton Women’s Place. As a corporate sponsor of the event, General Cable made a cash contribution in 2015. Last year, General Cable also donated 4,000 feet of GenSPEED® Category 6 plenum cable to upgrade security infrastructure at the organization’s facilities.
General Cable actively supports causes that improve our local communities, and align with our company-wide values of safety, integrity, and the respect of each individual.
